CSS and Urdu

The recent order of the Lahore High Court to conduct the CSS examination in Urdu has confused the aspirants. The CSS – being the leading competitive exam is again under the sudden patriotic stroke of our leaders. This bureaucratic examination system was introduced during the British Raj. Therefore it is understandable that the medium of answer of the exams is English. However if the government desires to change the official language then there is the need to bring the change from the primary level. Urdu should be selected as the medium of instruction in schools, colleges and universities, so that the candidates that appears in the CSS exams are familiar with the vocabulary of the language.
