Workshop on ‘Patent System in Pakistan’ held

Intellectual Property Rights Protection has immense significance for knowledge based-economy. It is essential that the rights of innovators are duly protected, says a press release. 

This was said by Vice Chancellor Air University, Air Vice Marshal (r) Faaiz Amir while presiding a workshop on “Patent system in Pakistan” organized by Office of research, Innovation & Commercialisation (ORIC) of Air University. At this occasion, Executive Director of IPO Pakistan,  Muhammad Naseer, shared with participants that IPR have become the need of the hour and can play crucial role in economic development of Pakistan. 

At this occasion, Director ORIC, Air Commodore (r) Afzaal Ahmed Khan told that Intellectual Property (IP) contributes significantly to the national development as an instrument for instigating creativity and innovation through valuing the efforts of the original proponents. Many industries in knowledge-based economies rely heavily on the adequate enforcement of their patents, trademarks, and copyrights for their economic benefits. Knowledge of patents drafting and filing is immensely useful for innovators, professors, scientists and researchers so that they may be able to secure commercial benefits derived as a result of their findings or innovations.

The awareness workshop of Patent system in Pakistan was organized in collaboration with IPO (Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan).  Experts from IPO-Pakistan introduced the participants with patent ability requirements, patent drafting and filing procedures. Large number of Air University researchers, faculty and students attended the workshop.
