Two hoax bomb calls forced officers of a bank, at Sharea Faisal, and residents of a house, in Model Colony, to evacuate on Friday. Both phone calls were made my women, police reported.

The Model Colony police said that a woman called them up and told them that a bomb planted on the roof of a house near Bagh-e-Habib mosque.

However, the bomb disposal squad could not locate any bomb in the house, a police official stated.

The second prank call was also made by a woman, who informed the bank's service centre , situated in Hussain Centre near the Duty Free shop on Sharea Faisal, that a bomb was present inside the building. The building was subsequently evacuated by the area police. However, after the police and the bomb disposal squad's thorough search no bomb could be located.

Separate reports have been lodged and investigations are underway.

The city has been on high alert following a series of bomb attacks in at least five main cities of the country.

Eight people were killed only two days ago after a bomb went off in a building in Lahore’s Defence area.

However, the deadliest of the attacks was last week's suicide bombing at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine at Sehwan, in Sindh. Over 88 people were died while around 200 were injured.
