KARACHI: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is expected towrite to Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) about the grant which the Board had released to the federation in June 2012, a highly reliable source in the Board told ‘The News’. The Board gave PBF Rs9million as a special grant just before the closing of the financial year 2012. The Board wants to know where the federation spent the money. The source said that the amount had been withdrawn from the bank despite PSB’s instructions that it would not be withdrawn without informing the Board. Another source said that during PBF elections on December 20, 2012, in Lahore, the general council had asked the federation to present the audited accounts report of the last four years. But, a source privy to the development, said that the details had not been presented by the federation, which spoilt the electoral meeting. On January 26 this year, a newPBF setup came into power as a result of elections. The PSB will write to the same federation and it is not yet known how Khalid Mehmoodled PBF will respond to this. Doda Khan Bhutto was the PBF president when the amount was withdrawn. Doda has now been elected as chairman of the PBF. The source said that unless this issue was resolved the PSB would not financially support the PBF. For the past four years, the PBFwas on the hit list of the PSB because it had not implemented the national sports policy. However, it is expected that the PBF under Khalid will restore working relations with the PSB which is providing funds and infrastructure for training to federations.
