LAHORE
THE Jamaat-e-Islami Central Shoora stressed the United Nations and other international bodies to exert diplomatic and economic pressure on India to recall its troops from Kashmir and honour her pledge regarding the right of self-determination to Kashmiris.
A resolution adopted by the Shoora expressed grave concern over Indian agencies’ patronising the terrorist and subversive activities in Pakistan and her construction of dams to deprive this country of her river waters’ share. It urged the government to reiterate its principled stance on Kashmir and continue its support to the liberation struggle of Kashmiris.
Through another resolution, Shoora demanded that all the foreign troops must leave Afghanistan. It noted that US president had earlier announced total withdrawal from Afghanistan but under an agreement with new Afghan rulers, it would still keep ten military bases and combating force there.
The Shoora said ever since the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 followed by the US and NATO attack in 2001, the Muslim country had undergone a total devastation. One and a half million Afghans had been killed while millions others injured and disabled and compelled to migrate to Pakistan and Iran. Due to this, the whole region has been suffering from turmoil and instability.
It said lasting peace was possible in Afghanistan only with the total withdrawal of foreign troops and an end to foreign control over its bases.
Through another resolution, the Shoora expressed deep grief and anxiety over the bloodletting of Muslims at the hands of aliens as also Muslims. It especially slated killings going on in Syria, Egypt and the victimisation of pro-Pakistan people in Bangladesh.
