LAHORE
PAKISTAN Army has dispatched a consignment of 18 ton relief goods for drought-affected people of Tharparkar from Army Relief Camp Fortress Stadium, Lahore Garrison Wednesday.
The consignment consisting of 10 trucks left for Hyderabad for onward distribution in famine-stricken areas of Thar. The relief goods included food items, clean drinking water, blankets and medicines. Almost 30 teams of army consisting of paramedical staff are already working round the clock in the areas worst hit by drought and disease that include Chachoro, Diplo, Dali, Islamkot and suburbs of Nagarpar for the last two months. They have provided solace and medical treatment to almost 3,000 families. The students of Army Public School, Lahore donated a sum of Rs1.2 million from their personal savings for the people in distress.
Army has established seven relief camps in Lahore Garrison. The sites include Fortress Stadium, Ayub Stadium, Gaddafi Stadium, Walton Road, DHA and Sheikhupura. Army has so far dispatched 200 ton relief goods for Tharparkar from Lahore Garrison.
