Chrysanthemum show attracts visitors on 2nd day

Nowshera station commander says plan drawn up to develop Jinnah Park

NOWSHERA: The first-ever chrysanthemum exhibition arranged at the Jinnah Park in the Nowshera Cantonment continued to attract visitors on the second day on Monday. The wife of Garrison Commander Major General Ali Aamir Awan had inaugurated the flower show on Sunday.

Speaking to the media at the opening ceremony, she said credit for the first chrysanthemum exhibition went to Nowshera Station Commander Brigadier Syed Muzammil Hussain Shah and Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Saleem.

The chief guest praised both the officials for providing a source of entertainment to the people in the winter by arranging such exhibitions. She said she was elated at the first exhibition of the chrysanthemum in the Nowshera Cantonment as the Jinnah Park was the best place for providing such recreational facilities to the people.

The wife of the garrison commander said the venue was being used to offer entertaining facilities to the people from time to time. She said Nowshera Cantonment Board deserved praise for all this.

The chief guest said that it was heartening to note that the Nowshera Cantonment Board administration had ensured several basic amenities to the civilian population, including traders, despite limited resources.

Station Commander Brigadier Syed Muzammil Hussain Shah told reporters that the basic aim of arranging the chrysanthemum exhibition was to create awareness among the people. The station commander said that an elaborate plan had been drawn up to develop the Jinnah Park. He said work on the project would be launched soon and the venue would be turned into a distinct park of the country.

It may be mentioned here that chrysanthemum is found not only in China but also in the Central Asian States. It has over 100 horticultural varieties. China and other countries are putting the flowers to varied uses. Of late chrysanthemum is getting attention in Pakistan as well.
