Villagers protest shortage of water
TANK: The residents on Saturday staged protest here against the acute shortage of potable water in dozens of villages.Protest took the shape of rally when the protestors reached office of the assistant commissioner.
The residents of Kahu, Cheena, Theiri Maluk Chiri,Toran Nau, Azami, Mirbazi, Gola Garh Audil and many other villages of Jutatur circle held rally and staged a sit-in in front of the office of the local administration.
The demonstrators were chanting slogans against the district administration They blamed local authorities for selling perennial water to local landlords for irrigation purpose, which, according to them, was the main cause behind water paucity in the area.The speakers said that millions of rupees were being spent in the name of public uplift but residents of dozens of were forced to consume contaminated water.
