Grief continues to prevail in Chitral
Two local victims laid to rest in native villages
CHITRAL: Grief continued to prevail in the district on the second day of the plane tragedy as two of the victims were laid to rest here on Friday.
The bodies of Haji Nawaz and Haji Takbeer Khan were brought to their native areas in Chitral late in the night from Islamabad. Haji Nawaz and Takbeer Khan were laid to rest in Guldoor and Bakarabad, respectively. Thousands of people attended the funerals.
Also, two days after the plane tragedy the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) resumed flights to Chitral on Friday.Meanwhile, the relatives of the passengers who died in the crash and the elected representatives from Chitral appreciated the cooperation of the federal government in the identification process of the dead.
However, the people rejected the announcement of Rs 500,000 compensation for each victim of the plane crash and asked the government to increase the amount. They also asked the government to introduce new planes in place of the old ones on the difficult air routes such as Chitral keeping in view the safety of the passengers.
