Armchair outrage
This refers to the article ‘Armchair outrage’ (Dec 7), by Riham Alkoussa. The article highlights the power of social media and how Allepo has fallen prey to false hope instilled by those who do not move beyond the comfort of their homes. Social media has literally crippled our societal norms and values.
This also brings the plight of the Kashmiris to the limelight. The atrocities in the region have still not gained the attention at various international levels. Realism is fading away at a fast pace. We only raise our voice on the ‘small screens’ and don’t do something practical about it. The people of Syria and Kashmir are facing the same fate. The only thing which can put a stop to the ongoing brutalities is our collective ‘practical’ struggle.
