Minister orders sealing of two restaurants

Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin inspected cleanliness situation at various restaurants in the City and ordered sealing a Chinese restaurant, Hsin Kuang and Qabail Restaurant situated on MM Alam Road for using unhygienic food, poor cleanliness situation in production area, improper tagging of food items and child labour.

The minister also imposed three lakh rupees fine on Sichuan Restaurant situated near Mini Market.  He also visited Pizza Hut and Munal Restaurant and directed their administration to improve cleanliness situation. He said that use of expired items, presence of flies and poor cleanliness situation was intolerable.

Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin while sealing the restaurants also issued warning to their restaurant. He reprimanded their administration and directed ensure better cleanliness situation in future.

He said that restaurants should follow SOPs of Food Authority, adding that those performing well would be appreciated with cash reward and certificates.  While talking to the media, Bilal Yasin said that those restaurants playing with lives and health of people would be dealt strictly. He said that child labour, use of unhygienic food, improper cleanliness situation and staff working in production areas with injured hands would not be tolerated. He also inspected the medical certificates of staff working in the restaurants. 

Bilal Yasin said that Punjab Food Department was working under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to ensure sale of healthy food. He directed all the food inspectors working in various districts to ensure strict monitoring in their areas. He said that he would visit various cities to inspect the cleanliness situation in restaurants.

The Punjab Food Authority director operation and food inspectors also accompanied the ministers.Hepatitis clinic: Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Clinic (HPTC) is all set to be launched at the end of this year.

This was observed during a meeting held to discuss the progress on the Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Programme here at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI) head office on Tuesday, which was chaired by Minister for SHC&ME Khawaja Salman Rafique.

Dr Saeed Akhter, President PKLI, appreciated the efforts of all those concerned for moving the project on the designated fast track. Highlighting the importance of a PKLI (HPTC) project, Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that the close coordination of PKLI with several government departments was of extreme importance and must be carried out on regular basis. Issues such as injection safety and infection control, hospital waste management, mass vaccination of hepatitis B, treatment and care of the hepatitis patients, and education awareness on both healthcare providers and general public were discussed in detail.

Dr Saeed shared his vision of implementing the best standards and practices of World Health Organisation in Pakistan.

Khawaja Salman Rafique, while addressing the implementation of the various measures, laid special importance on the legislation and advised those concerned to prepare a detailed plan. Representatives from several government departments, including health, PHC, Chief Minister Secretariat, were present to discuss issues related to construction of PKLI hospital complex building and HPTC clinic building. Dedicating a considerable amount of budget and efforts to the prevention side, PKLI’s prevention plan aims to have its own surveillance system linked with the surveillance system of Punjab for Hepatitis. It will also take measures to implement blood safety mechanisms for safe blood transfusion. AIMC convocation: The 15th Convocation of Allama Iqbal Medical College (Session 2010-2015) is scheduled to be held on January 7, 2017 at AIMC Auditorium.

According to a handout issued on Tuesday, all graduates of above mentioned session have been asked to immediately register themselves with student section/Chairperson Registration Committee by December 13, 2016. No graduate will be registered after the last date.
