Sattar demands probe into MQM-P worker’s custodial death
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan chief Dr Farooq Sattar has condemned the death of Waseem Raja, a worker of the party in UC 28, Orangi Town, in police custody.
Addressing a press conference in PIB Colony on Monday, he demanded of the Sindh chief minister to take notice of the custodial death, alleging that those raising Pakistan Zindabad’s slogans were still being killed in police custody.
Sattar said police were taking MQM workers into custody and implicating them in fake cases.
If a detainee failed to give a bribe, he was killed, he said, adding that custodial deaths were a great human right violation.
He demanded from the chief minister to order a high-level inquiry into Raja’s custodial death.
He further asked that cops involved in the incident be taken to task and awarded a stern punishment.
Sattdar disputed the police claim that Raja had committed suicide. “It is a fake story and he was kept in custody without any remand.”
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party was fulfilling its agenda by getting poor workers locked up. He expressed heartfelt condolences for the bereaved family.
