Absenteeism in Torghar

MANSEHRA: Deputy Commissioner Torghar Matloobur Rehman has sealed offices of chief engineer Public Health Department and district health officer for remaining absent from duty.

“The people of the district have been suffering because of absence of both officers as we have to execute Rs800 million water supply schemes under special development package of Rs4 billion. The fund would lapse if we couldn’t spend this money within a specified period,” the DC told reporters on Saturday.

He said that Torghar, which was given the status of a settled district hardly some four years ago, needed the full concentration of heads of government departments for execution of development schemes and address issues faced by local people. “If Public Health Engineering Department doesn’t spend Rs800 million before end of ongoing fiscal year we would be derived of this money which the people of this remote district cannot afford at any cost,” said the official.

He said that same was the case with Health Department as he was struggling to appoint more and more doctors and fulfill the needs of hospitals in the district but because of the absence of DHO his work was also adversely affected.
