Role of career counseling in empowering women highlighted

MARDAN: A two-day training workshop on career counseling for degree level girl students was organised by Gender Reform Action Plan (GRAP) Project of the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department KP at GPGC for Women in Mardan.

A number of degree level students of various disciplines participated in the workshop. The participants took a keen interest in the training. Dr Zia Obaid, Dr Mumtaz Hussain Shah, Dr Ali Mohmand and Dr Imad Shah were the resource persons.  They explained various aspects of career counseling for opting future course of careers in different fields.

During the closing and certificate distribution ceremony, Farid Khan Marwat, project director of GRAP, highlighted the role of career counseling in empowering women and bringing gender equity and gender mainstreaming in socio-economic development of the nation.

The project director urged the students to opt for diverse careers instead of going for traditional careers. He said that KP government was fully committed to empowering women and has included gender equity as an important component of Integrated Development Strategy (IDS).

“All-out efforts are in place for achieving national and international sustainable development goals (SDGs),” he added.
