Guard shoots dead two robbers
Two robbers who had held up a family in the SITE area were shot dead by a private guard on Friday.
As per the SITE-B police, the two suspects were looting a family near Ghani Chowrangi when a businessman, Abid, who was travelling with private guards, spotted the incident.
Abid, police said, told his guards to fire at the robbers and, in the ensuing shootout, both suspects were fatally injured. No one from the family was injured in the shootout.
Weapons and the looted valuables were recovered from the suspects, police said. Their bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for a postmortem.
Once the incident came to light, city police chief Mushtaq Mehar announced a reward of Rs50,000 and a certificate of appreciation for the security guard.
Gang busted
The Sindh Rangers busted a gang said to be involved in more than 200 street crimes.
A spokesman said a raid was conducted in the Sikander Goth area and, after a shootout, a gang of five outlaws were arrested.
Identified as Irfan alias Koii, Abdul Razzaq alias Boota, Asif alias Maloo, Abdul Ghaffar alias Mada and Munir Khan, the suspects had allegedly confessed to 70 snatchings in Gulshan, 50 in North Nazimabad, 45 in SITE-Metroville and adjoining areas, and 20 in DHA.
The accused were handed over to local police for legal proceedings.
