NOWSHERA: The office-bearers of National Labour Federation staged a protest against the Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) for dismissing 144 workers and blocked the road at Shubra Chowk to traffic for some time.
Led by provincial president of the Insaf Labour Wing, Tahir Khan, Inayatur Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Amir Alam Khan, the protesters, carrying banners and placards, gathered outside the Nowshera Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, they said sacking 144 workers of the company was an injustice.
“It’s tantamount to economic murder of the employees,” Tahir Khan said, adding the court had already ordered the restoration of employees but the company had taken no action in this regard.
