LAHORE

Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Rehman Bodla Tuesday awarded death sentence on three counts to a man on charges of killing his three nephews and injuring their mother in 2015.  All the three kids were less than five-year-old.

The judge also awarded 16-year jail term to forty-year-old convict Faryad. The court also directed the convict to pay Rs 40,000 compensation to the legal heirs of the victim. In case of default in payment of the fine the convict will face further jail term.

On June 12, 2015, Faryad barged into the house of his brother Abdul Majeed at Fazal Park, Shahdra. Faryad attacked his nephews with a knife. He picked children one-by-one and butchered them in front of their mother, Salama, wife of Majeed. She also sustained severe injuries when she tried to save her sons. Faryad slaughtered his nephews five-year-old Azeem, three-year-old Waseem, and one-year-old Shakeel. Locals overpowered the killer and handed over him to the police.

Later, during the course of police investigation it revealed that issueless Faryad butchered his three nephews to teach a lesson to his elder brother Abdul Majeed with whom he had developed a dispute over property. Before the incident Faryad had left the house after a quarrel with his brother. Abdul Majeed stated in the FIR that his brother used to quarrel with him and he had threatened to kill his sons on different occasions.  On Tuesday, the judge concluded the case after trial proceedings of less than a year.
