Police fail to register abduction case

LAHORE

Despite the orders of court and CCPO, Iqbal Town police have not yet registered FIR of kidnapping for ransom despite the lapse of over one and a half years.

On February 15, 2015, three and a half years old daughter of one Nasir Bashir of 454-Neelam Block Allama Iqbal Town was kidnapped by three unidentified people from outside of her house. The kidnappers demanded Rs 1.5 million ransom. The man managed to recover his daughter after by paying Rs 600,000 ransom.

He lodged an application at Iqbal Town police station, but the police are allegedly using delaying tactics to register the case. The complainant moved an additional district & sessions court on February 19, 2015 and got directions for the registration of the FIR but to no avail.

The complainant approached the CCPO on March 11, 2015. The CCPO directed Iqbal Town SP in writing with a most urgent/top priority letter 802 LL/S.P/I.T to go through the contents of the application as well as its enclosure, comply with court order in letter & spirit, redress the grievances of the applicant and furnish the comprehensive report within 24 hours positively through a special messenger.

However, no action has been taken against the culprits so far. The victim family has appealed to the officers concerned for the registration of FIR and recovery of ransom. Interestingly, the brother-in-law of the complainant is a coordinator of the police station, but he has been running from pillar to post to get justice.

Iqbal Town SHO has expressed his ignorance about the incident and orders of the CCPO and the court. SHO Sarwar talking to The News said he would check the details of the case and take action accordingly.
