LAHORE
The Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery at NCA hosted an exhibition of works titled “Peace Murals of Artlords, Afghanistan.”
Education Minister Rana Mashhood inaugurated the exhibition and praised the works. He emphasised the importance of using art and culture to foster peace and brotherhood.
The exhibition was a Pakistan-Afghanistan civil society initiative in partnership with Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Pakistan. The Jang Media Group was the exclusive media partner for this event.
Artlords was established in 2014 and consists of artists and volunteers motivated by the desire to bring about a positive social change through the soft power of art and culture as a non intrusive approach.
Reproductions of murals executed by artists and volunteers belonging to Artlords lined the walls of the gallery. A video projection documenting their efforts as they worked on these murals at various sites highlighted their efforts. These wall murals had been executed over a period of two years in and around important sites in Afghanistan to emphasise the need to establish peace in the region.
Bold, graphic and inspired by other activists/artists such as Banksy, the optimistic spirit behind this public art initiative was evident as students and viewers thronged the exhibition and responded positively to the works on display.
