Panama Papers case
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided not to put up any technical hindrance in proceedings of Panama Papers case in the Supreme Court, starting on November 1.
Sources said that legal advisers think that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s petition had been thrown out of the court being not maintainable but the government has decided not to challenge its maintainability.
Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique told Geo TV in a programme that the government had agreed to formation of a commission headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court to probe the matter but Imran Khan and Aitzaz Ahsan criticised the government.
The government then proposed formation of a commission headed by a judge and gave references to such commissions in the past but the Supreme Court highlighted need for a new law. The government wanted to draw ToRs for investigation but Aitzaz Ahsan and Imran Khan tried to take the whole process hostage, targeting only one person, the minister said.
