Two accused involved in Tehkal killings arrested

PESHAWAR: The capital city police on Tuesday arrested two accused involved in the murder of three women and later burning their bodies in Tehkal village to destroy evidence about the crime.

“The main accused in the case, Ghulam Mohammad, along with his two brothers and other relatives killed his wife Hussan Bano and two daughters and escaped,” Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Tahir told reporters at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines on Tuesday.

The official said that two brothers of Ghulam Mohammad who were also involved in the murder had been arrested.According to police, the accused alleged that Hussan Bano was involved in smuggling. They said her spouse and other family members wanted her to stop these activities and go with them to Afghanistan.

They added that after her release from jail in a smuggling case, her Afghan husband took her to Afghanistan but she returned to Peshawar along with her daughters.Police said the accused strangled the women in a house in Tehkal and later shifted the bodies to a deserted place in Chimiari area where they were burnt.

Police worked out the case after identifying the car that was used in transporting the bodies from Tehkal to Chimiari area.CCPO Mohammad Tahir said that Station House Officer Arbab Naeem would be recommended to the inspector general of police for cash reward and commendation certificate for working out the case.
