Locals robbed of cash, valuables

PAKPATTAN: Residents were robbed of cash and valuables on Friday.

Saleem Babar of Qaboola Town was heading home and near Fatehpur bypass he was intercepted by four dacoits, who snatched cash and a cell phone from him. Three thieves stole fertilizer and construction material worth Rs 26,800 from the house of Haji Muhammad Sharif of Dhana. Three thieves entered the house of Noor Pir of Abadnoor Jhang and stole cash and other valuables worth Rs 125,000. Four muggers stole cash, gold and other valuables worth Rs 406,200 from the house of Muhammad Iqbal. Police have registered cases.

HELD FOR DECANTING: Several shopkeepers were booked and arrested on the charges of decanting.

District Civil Defence Officer Pakpattan arrested accused Muhammad Asif of Chak 80/D, and accused Ali Adnan of Chak 83/D, accused Waqas of Sahara Market, Arifwala over decanting. Police arrested accused Tanveer of C-Block, Arifwala and accused Muhammad Arshad of City Road, Arifwala over decanting. Police have registered cases against the accused.

WOMEN TORTURED: Some accused entered a house forcibly and tortured its women and took away two buffaloes on Friday.

Accused Ejaz and his accomplices entered the house of Muhammad Imran of Chak 62/EB and tortured his mother, sister and sister-in-law and took away his two buffaloes and other valuables. Police have registered a case.

LAWYERS STRIKE: Lawyers of District Bar Association, Pakpattan, and Tehsil Bar Association, Arifwala, observed a complete strike, urging the government to issue notification for the Lahore High Court Sahiwal Bench.
