Rs490 million allocated to purchase buses for ICT students

The government has allocated Rs490million for purchase of buses and their registration to provide transport facility for students under Prime Minister Educational Reform Programme launched in Islamabad to ensure quality education.
Accordingly tender have been opened and supply of first procurement is expected to be carried out this month.
Under the programme prime minister inaugurated two institutions Islamabad Model College for Girls Punjgran (Sector Nilore) and Islamabad Model School for Boys (IMSB), F-8/3.
Sources at Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) on Sunday said Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) revise improve policies according to need of the students from time to time so that they are able to cope with modern day challenges.
Resultantly the quality of education in federal government schools and colleges under FDE has considerably improved.
With regard to steps being taken for improvement of quality of education in educational institutions the sources said overall upraising construction of boundary walls of 49 schools are near completion.
Boundary walls of remaining schools will be raised in second phase of Prime Minister Educational Reforms Programme.
The sources said provision of clean drinking water is one of the key aspect of the Prime Minister s Education Reforms Programme (PMERP) and accordingly 303 electric water coolers along with filters and 2,147 white boards are being installed in 422 educational institutions in ICT.
For second phase under PMERP PC-1 titled Renovation, Rehabilitation of Physical Infrastructure of 195 educational institutions in ICT with estimated cost Rs3289.82million has been submitted.
Moreover, for provision of CCTV Surveillance System in all public institutions under FDE an amount of Rs40 million has been allocated and requisite amount transferred to institutions for installation of IP Based CCTV surveillance system.
This include designed and developed Security Inspection Monitoring System (SIMS)for real time monitoring analysis and reporting security inspection and Daily Visitor Invigilation System (DVIS) for Schools Colleges to make educational institutions secure from all manifestation of threat and other suspicious activities.
The sources said to improve Janitorial and Cleaning services in 422 educational institutions tender has been opened and the file is in process for arrangement of funds and approval.
All the Educational Institutions (Islamabad Model College and Islamabad Model Schools) have same curriculum.
The recommended textbooks are developed as per National Curriculum 2006. The other steps included establishment of Project Management Unit (PMU) appointment of Area Education Officer (AEOs) introduction of Montessori Classes in selected Schools additional Classrooms in 21 Schools up-gradation of 200 Schools Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Intervention landscaping and levelling of play grounds and establishment of Teachers Training Academy.
