A total of 82 percent of Karachi’s residents are satisfied with the results of the targeted operation carried out by security forces in the city, and 78 percent want the operation to continue, as per a recent survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan, Geo News reported.
The survey was conducted between September 18 to September 30 and included more than 700 residents from different parts of Karachi.
The survey results showed that 62 percent of the people agree that incidences of mobile snatching have gone down, whereas 65 percent believe kidnappings have decreased.
Only seven percent were not satisfied with the results of the Karachi operation, while seven percent were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. Three percent chose not to respond to the question.
A total of 78 percent of the respondents said the targeted raids should continue until peace is established completely; 8 percent gave different durations, whereas 14 percent did not answer.
The survey also gauged the public’s opinion on increase/decrease in incidences of different crimes. When asked about target killing, 88 percent said there had been a decrease in target killings in the city, whereas two percent said the opposite. About mobile thefts, 62 percent said there had been a decrease, while 11 percent said there had been an increase.
When asked which political party they thought could solve Karachi’s problems more effectively, 22 percent of the respondents said PML-N, 20 percent said MQM, 10 percent cited PPP, five percent were for PTI, two percent for JI, while eight percent were for other parties.
