UBL, MAP convention
KARACHI: UBL partnered with Management Association of Pakistan (MAP), at the 18th MAP Convention 2016 themed ‘Dancing with Disruption’, a statement said Thursday.
The convention brought together renowned local and international business leaders as well as prominent speakers to focus on the future of management. The event was attended by almost 300 senior executives from Pakistan’s corporate sector.
The convention encouraged contemporary management practitioners to re-think and embrace the idea of a disruptive economy and to not only adapt to, but lead the resulting changes in the organisation. During his opening remarks at the convention, Wajahat Husain, President and CEO, UBL, said, “The era of disruption and re-invention of the organisation is already upon us.” He cited examples of businesses which had embraced technology and disrupted their existing business models to keep up with the exponential pace of change within their industries.
He also spoke of how a lack of progressive thinking had proved to be detrimental to organisations that had otherwise been doing well. “To thrive in this disruptive environment, the modern organisation needs to exhibit a strong business foundation, disciplined risk-taking, awareness of the environment and identify the change agents who nimbly lead the disruption in the organisation.”
