Call to ban Indian films
LAHORE
Senior artistes, producers and distributors of Pakistani film industry have demanded the government to impose an immediate ban on the release of Indian films in Pakistan.
In a crowded press conference held at the Lahore Press Club on Monday, senior artistes and producers belonging to Pakistan film industry said that India was continuously carrying out the genocide of the innocent Kashmiris in the Indian occupied Kashmir and also threatening Pakistani artistes who were visiting India.
They said the Indian movies were being illegally imported into Pakistan due to which our own film industry had been destroyed while billions of rupees were being lost. They pointed out that due to high prices of the tickets in cinema a common man had been deprived of this once a most popular entertainment of the masses. They said this illegal exhibition of Indian films was causing billions of dollars loss to Pakistan since a huge money was going back to India in return of these illegal releases in Pakistani cinemas. They said the Indian shows being shown on Pakistani TV Networks must be stopped in the wake of the Indian atrocities on Kashmiris. They said it is the need of the hour that we should strengthen our own film industry. Mustafa Qureshi, Sangeeta Begum, Irfan Khoosat, Nasir Adeeb, Shehzad Rafique, Ch Ejaz Kamran and others addressed.
