CHHATTISGARH, India: A wife who claimed her husband had gone missing a year ago has been arrested by detectives in India after his body turned up in his own home.
The skeleton of Rajvinder Singh, 45, was dug up under the floor of the bedroom at his home in the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh in northern India. His wife, Manpreet Kaur, 40, has admitted burying his body but denies murder and said she simply did not have enough money to pay for a funeral.
Police became suspicious after neighbours started complaining about a foul smell which was emanating from the house. The body, which had turned into a skeleton, had been buried in a shallow grave under the house. Mrs Kaur was apparently worried about the cost of a full, traditional Sikh funeral and paying for a burial plot
