Pak-India tension affects trade activities: speakers
LAHORE
Tension between Pakistan and India has affected business activities whereas shopping for marriage functions has started. The government should not ignore Kashmir issue and convene all political and religious parties on one platform to raise voice on the issue.
These views were expressed by the speakers at Jang Economic Session on ‘Kashmir issue, peace, economy’ on Wednesday. The panellists included Dr Rafiq Ahmed, Sohail Lashari, Khurshid Ahmed, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Mirza Sadiq and Ashraf Bhatti. The session was hosted by Sikindar Lodhi.
Dr Rafiq Ahmed said the world was focusing on Pakistan for its geographical location while the Kashmir issue should be resolved for economic activity and growth. He said Pakistan should not show any leniency on Indian aggression otherwise India would get more aggressive. He said the Indian government would not prevail, but Pakistan should focus on resolving issues amicably. India has concern over CPEC projects and it is taking aggressive measures against Pakistan, he said.
Sohail Lashari said the world had become global village and was aware of Indian atrocities on Kashmiris, but its silence on the issue was very tragic. Peace will benefit both India and Pakistan, he said.
Khurshid Ahmed said Pakistan was facing many internal and external challenges. All political parties should unite to face the challenges, he said. He said India was boosting trade ties with Iran and Afghanistan and in such situation Pakistan should adopt friendly foreign policies with its neighbouring countries to increase trade. He said India was hindering investment flow in Pakistan by fomenting terrorism activities.
Ghulam Mohiuddin said Indian government’s policies in Kashmir are deplorable. He said Pakistan should continue to support Kashmiris.
Mirza Sadiq said world observed peace day, but no one raised voice against Indian cruelty in Held Kashmir. He said Pakistan should continue its support for the Kashmiris. He said India did not accept Pakistan.
Ashraf Bhatti said negative impact on business activities happened due to unrest in Indian Held Kashmir. He said solution to Kashmir issue was crucial for Pakistan and the global peace.
