Two murder accused killed by accomplices’ firing

OKARA: Two murder accused were killed by the firing of their accomplices during an encounter with police and villagers here.
According to District Police Officer Muhammad Faisal Rana, Abdul Waheed was murdered and Abdul Aziz, Abdur Rashid were injured at Dhulyana village in 2014. Hujra Shah Moqeem police registered a murder case against Aslam alias Achhu and others. The accused Achhu, who was at large, had been threatening the family of Waheed for pursuing his murder case.
On Sunday night, Achhu, Sagheer alias Gaggi, Mazhar Elahi and four unidentified people entered the house of Muhammad Siddique alias Sher Bahadur and allegedly injured his servant Nafees as there was no one in the house. Later, they entered the house of Siddique’s neighbour. In meantime, the villagers gathered there and raised hue and cry, which led to an encounter with the assailants. The encounter continued for about two-and-a-half-hour. The police and other law-enforcement agencies, which were conducting a combing operation in the area, also reached there. To it, the assailants tried to escape while resorting to aerial firing. As a result, Achhu and Gaggi were injured seriously while Mazhar Elahi alias Kali and four others succeeded to escape. The injured accused died when the police were shifting them to a hospital. Police have registered a case.
COMBING OPERATION: As many as 100 anti-social elements, including seven proclaimed offenders (POs), were arrested by police and other law-enforcing agencies during a combing operation in the last 24 hours in the district.
Talking to newsmen here, District police Officer Muhammad Faisal Rana said that illegal weapons, 9kg charas and 256 litre wine were recovered from them. The nabbed persons have been shifted to an unknown place for investigation.
Addict kills wife over domestic row

OKARA: An addict allegedly murdered his wife over a domestic dispute at Amli Moti village.
Addict Majid Mahi Baloch of Basic Health Unit government quarter used to quarrel with his wife Rani Bibi, mother of two children. On Sunday night, the couple again quarreled with each other over a domestic dispute. In a fit of frustration, Majid allegedly killed his wife with the blow of a hoe. Depalpur Sadr police have arrested the accused and registered a case against him.
