AIOU inks pact with SMIU
Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and Sindh Madrassatul Islam University (SMIU), Karachi, have signed a document of mutual cooperation to promote ongoing efforts in the field of research and information technology.
They decided to assist each other in further strengthening teachings programmes, improving quality of education at all levels. The document was signed by Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor SMIU and his AIOU counterpart Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui.
SMIU one of the oldest institutions in South Asia having the special distinction that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, studied here for about four and a half years from 1887-92. The agreement defined a working relationship to foster cooperation in education and research especially on the life and work of founder of Pakistan.
It provides the broad framework for cooperation between the two universities in enhancing mutual interest and understanding, as well as other services for which cooperation may be mutually beneficial. Both universities will encourage direct contact and cooperation between their faculty and administration.
Meanwhile, the AIOU approved a comprehensive plan to further upgrade its regional offices both in term infrastructure network and enhanced academic facilities for the students.
