Meets David Cameron; informs him about LoC violations by India

LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have good relations with all its neighbours in line with his vision, and said Islamabad will keep on playing its role for peace in Afghanistan.
During a meeting with his British counterpart David Cameron, Prime Minister Nawaz also highlighted Pakistan’s important role and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Nawaz Sharif was received by British Prime Minister David Cameron here at the 10 Downing Street and the meeting was held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. Both leaders expressed satisfaction on the overall trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UK and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Sharif, who was in London on his way to New York to attend the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, stated that Pakistan and the UK enjoyed close and cordial relations in diverse fields including trade, commerce, education, security and defence.
He also highlighted that the presence of a large Pakistani diaspora in the UK acted as a bridge between the two countries, a press release, issued by the Pakistan High Commission in London said.
The two leaders also exchanged views on issues of global and regional importance, including the situation in Afghanistan. Nawaz Sharif also informed David Cameron about the Line of Control (LoC) violations by India.
The British prime minister welcomed Pakistan’s policies for a peaceful neighbourhood and appreciated Pakistan’s role in the fight against militancy and terrorism.
Prime Minister Cameron was assisted by his National Security Adviser Sir Mark Lyall Grant while Prime Minister Sharif was accompanied by his Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi.
