Military officer escapes unhurt in Mohmand Agency attack

GHALLANAI: A senior military officer escaped unhurt in a roadside explosion at the security forces checkpost in the Chopan area of Mohmand Agency on Thursday, official sources said.
The sources said that Lt Col Muhammad Umair was crossing the security forces checkpost at Chopan when an explosive device planted at roadside went off. However, no casualty took place.
Following the incident, security forces launched a search operation in the surrounding area and arrested seven suspected persons. The Bajaur-Peshawar Road remained closed for two hours.
Meanwhile, the political administration warned the tribal elders of the area to arrest the culprits within three days or action would be taken against them.
