The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the regulator for medical and dental education and practice in the country, has cautioned students against getting admission to medical and dental colleges, where fresh enrolments are banned.

According to PMDC acting registrar Dr Syed Azhar Ali Shah, candidates should refrain from seeking admission to such medical and dental colleges, where fresh enrolments are banned.  Complete details in this respect are available on the PMDC website i.e. www.pmdc.org.pk.

"The list of recognised medical and dental colleges along with seats allocated for them by the PMDC can be checked on the official PMDC website," he said.

The PMDC acting registrar said medical and dental students without having registration with the PMDC won't be registered as medical and dental practitioners.  "We (PMDC) will not take any responsibility for adverse action on the career of the students in case of admission to such colleges," he said.

Dr Syed Azhar said all medical and dental educational institutions had already been told to strictly follow the prescribed PMDC rules before starting any educational programme or admission as per allocated seats specified by the council.

"In case of violation of rules, we (PMDC) will take action against medical and dental colleges concerned in line with the PMDC Ordinance 1962," he said.
