Pays surprise visit to PIC, asks patients about facilities

LAHORE

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, immediate after his return from Turkey, paid a surprise visit to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) without any protocol.

According to a handout, the chief minister reached the hospital without any prior intimation and inquired from the attendants of the patients present outside the emergency ward about the treatment facilities being provided in the hospital. He inquired after the patients in the emergency and inspected the facilities being extended to the patients.

Shahbaz Sharif also visited the modern lab of the PIC and appreciated the performance of the laboratory equipped with modern facilities for diagnostic tests of the patients. He reviewed the cleanliness arrangements in washrooms of the hospital and appreciated the hospital administration for best hygienic conditions.

Some patients and their attendants requested the chief minister for free treatment and financial assistance, upon which, Shahbaz Sharif announced free treatment and financial assistance for them on the spot and issued instructions to the administration in this regard. The patients and their attendants expressed satisfaction over treatment facilities in the hospital and informed the chief minister that it was best hospital of Pakistan and modern machinery was available there.

They said that best treatment facilities were available in the hospital but there was rush of patients due to which, treatment became difficult and doctors could not pay full attention to the patients. They said the number of the beds should be increased in emergency.

Shahbaz Sharif said that provision of quality facilities to the common man in the hospitals was his mission and he was paying surprise visits to the hospitals for this purpose.

He said that he visited PIC without any prior intimation to see the patients and treatment facilities there. He said that hospitals were constructed for the treatment of poor patients and they had full right to quality health facilities. 

Shahbaz Sharif said quality health facilities would be provided to the  common man at every cost. He said that due to rush of patients in PIC, a new emergency block had been constructed which would be inaugurated soon. He directed the hospital administration to take urgent measures to make the new block functional at the earliest.

He said that he had taken responsibility to provide quality health facilities to the patients. He said that doctors and paramedical staff should serve the ailing humanity in real sense.

The patients and their attendants, seeing the chief minister among themselves, prayed for his long life. Elderly women while talking to chief minister said that the way he was serving the ailing humanity, Allah Almighty would reward him.

According to a handout, speaking after his return from Turkey, the chief minister said that the warm welcome accorded to him in Turkey was expression of love by the government and people of Turkey for Pakistan and Pakistani people.

Shahbaz Sharif said that credit of foiling coup attempt in Turkey went to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and people of Turkey. He said that failure of coup in Turkey was the success of public service of Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He said that the relations between the two countries would improve due to his visit to Turkey and his visit was very useful.

Shahbaz Sharif said that useful meetings were held with Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister BinAli Yildirim, other Turk leaders and investors. He said that Housing Development Administration Turkey (TOKI) had expressed interest in investment in construction of low-cost houses.

The chief minister said that Turk government had assured full cooperation for further improvement in health sector. He said new avenues of cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan had opened as a result of his visit. He said that assurance of cooperation by Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in every sector was welcomed.

The chief minister said that the struggle made by people of Turkey for saving democracy would be written in golden words.

The chief minster had gone to Turkey on special invitation of Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
