Police claim to have solved two homicide cases – the murder of an abducted child in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and the murder of a woman in Lines Area on Sunday.

Police said on Wednesday that they had arrested Rizwan, a maternal cousin of three-year-old child, Rehman Ali, for allegedly murdering the boy after kidnapping and sexually assaulting him with his two accomplices.

During the initial interrogation, Rizwan said he, along with his two associates, Tahir and Naeem, had kidnapped the boy on Sunday while he was playing outside his house in Madho Goth in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

The kidnappers took the child to a plot in Hussain Hazara Goth, where they tried to sodomise him. When the boy shouted for help, they put a piece of cloth in his mouth and continued with the sexual assault.

Later, they threw Ali into a water tank and fled. The boy later died of suffocation in the tank.  Police carried out raids and arrested both accomplices of the key suspect.

Also on Sunday, a man, Amaan, lodged a complaint at Brigade Police Station, saying that after the death of his father, his elder brother, Salman, sold property and distributed shares among all brothers. However, he said his younger brothers, Adnan and Zeeshan, did not want to not pay his share of Rs400,000 and also threatened him.

He said Salman gave him Rs400,000 on Sunday, and afterwards he along with his wife, Aqeela Bano, and daughters was going on a motorcycle when two gunmen wearing helmets and masks and riding a motorcycle tried to snatch the bag containing the cash from his wife in Sector 2D of Lines Area. But when Aqeela Bano put up resistance, the gunmen shot and wounded her and escaped with the cash.

After a short while, Amaan’s brother-in-law, Gul Zaman, came there and he with the help of Gul Zaman shifted his wife to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where she expired.

He added that as the shooting took place, the mask of one the attackers came off, exposing his own brother, Zeeshan. Police registered an FIR and started an investigation.

Cops later carried out raids and apprehended Mohmamad Adnan, while Zeeshan is still at large.
