TIMERGARA: Unidentified armed men shot dead a leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl in Lower Dir, officials said on Thursday.
They said that Said Shah Ali Khan, deputy general secretary of JUI-F in Lower Dir district, was sleeping at his house at Amlook Darra in Talash when unidentified persons barged into the house late in the night and gunned him down.
The police registered the case against unidentified killers and started an investigation.
District Police Officer (DPO), Lower Dir, Ali Akbar Shah also visited the crime scene and assured that the murderers would soon be arrested.
Said Shah Ali Khan was a senior member of JUI-F and has been playing an active role for resolution of local issues.
Meanwhile, the charged workers of JUI-F, after offering the funeral prayers of Said Shah Ali Khan, staged a protest at Talash Bazaar against the murder. They set a three-day deadline for the arrest of the killers. The protesters blocked Peshawar-Timergara highway for a while and chanted slogans against the provincial government and district administration.
Speaking g on the occasion, JUI-F provincial chief Maulana Gul Nasib Khan, JUI district chief Maulana Zahid Khan, Qazi Ayazuddin and Mufti Khalid Mehmood said that the provincial government had failed to protect the property and life of the people. The provincial government would be held responsible for law and order if the murderers were not arrested within three days, they warned.
