11 uplift projects for KP worth Rs9.5 billion approved
PESHAWAR: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Friday approved 11 uplift projects worth Rs9.545.billion.
The nod was given at a meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan. The PDWP members and respective administrative secretaries attended the meeting, said a handout.
The forum considered 13 projects. These pertained to different sectors including Elementary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, Sports, Culture and Tourism, Communication and Work and Health Departments.
The only approved project of the Elementary and Secondary Education sector was “Establishment of Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) in E & SE Department.”In the Higher Education Sector the approved projects included Establishment of Government Girls Degree College at Galiyat, Abbottabad, re-construction of Building of GCMS (Boys) Abbottabad, Establishment of Government Girls Degree College at in Tangi Charsadda, establishment of Government Girls Degree College at Dargai Charsadda, establishment of government degree colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on need basis.
In the Sports and Tourism Sector, approved projects were Revival of indigenous cultural heritage, provision of sports equipment, promotion and holding of sports competitions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The only approved project in the road sectors was establishment of project directorate for Swat Motorway.In the Multi-Sectoral Development Sector, the approved projects were governance support programme-establishment of PCNA Support Unit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; governance and policy reforms programme.
