Nisar skips Saarc interior ministers’ lunch to attend
meeting; Shahbaz especially arrives from Lahore
ISLAMABAD: Army chief General Raheel Sharif had an important meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House here on Thursday and discussed important security matters with him.
Gen Raheel, who returned from his hectic visit to China in the wee hours of the day, deliberated on significant developments back at home about the national security, including some aspects of Zarb-e-Azb.
He briefed the prime minister about his visit to China where he reviewed the joint exercise of land forces from Pakistan, China, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also joined the meeting towards the end. He also had a meeting with the general in the third week of last month in Rawalpindi.
Shahbaz especially came from Lahore. Interestingly, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also visited the Prime Minister’s House during the presence of the army chief.
He skipped the lunch that he hosted in a local hotel for the visiting interior/home ministers of Saarc countries, as he had to rush to the Prime Minister’s House.It is understood that he too joined the discussion briefly between Nawaz and General Raheel.The sources maintained that the army chief’s visit to the Prime Minister’s House and his meetings were a routine interaction.
