KARACHI/LAHORE: Resolutions have been submitted to the assemblies of Punjab, Sindh and AJK condemning the provocative speeches of MQM leader Altaf Hussain.
Announcing protests on this issue on August 6, AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majid said he had given an ultimatum to MQM ministers to announce dissociation from Altaf Hussain or submit their resignations within 72 hours.
The PTI submitted resolutions in the Sindh and Punjab assemblies, declaring that Altaf’s recent speech mocked the security agencies and was against the Constitution. They demanded of the federal government to act against Altaf. The Sindh Assembly will discuss this issue in its next session.
PTI’s Samar Khan said Altaf’s speech was a matter of shame for Urdu-speaking people and the whole nation. He said the federal government should take up this matter with the UK seriously, and urged Ch Nisar to play his part in this regard.
Mehmoodur Rashid, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, said Altaf Hussain used objectionable remarks against the Pakistan Army and other state institutions and was inviting India, the UN and Nato to intervene in Pakistan’s affairs. He demanded that Altaf be declared a traitor and be brought back to Pakistan via Interpol. He demanded that a case be lodged against Altaf Hussain for subversion of the Constitution. He praised the Rangers and other law enforcers.
