Youth kidnapped in Shahdara

A youth disappeared from the City in an apparent kidnapping in the Shahdara police jurisdiction while as the City police continue to stay tight lipped on the steep rise in kidnappings in the City over the past few months.

Awais Ashraf, 18, went to open his shop early in the morning and disappeared. His relatives and friends took to the streets after knowing of this and blocked road, causing great discomfort to the road users.

The protesters also chanted anti-police slogans and demanded Awais’s immediate recovery.

Newborn body: A newborn was found lying dead in the Subzazar area on Saturday. The body has been removed to morgue.

Two injured: At least two persons were injured when the roof of a house caved in the Garhi Shahu police area on Saturday. The roof collapsed seemingly due to poor construction of the house. The injured have been removed to morgue.

awareness: The chief traffic officer Saturday visited traffic awareness camp set up at Alhamra Chowk on The Mall. Addressing on the occasion, the CTO said that the traffic awareness campaign started on July 15 would continue till August 14.

He also distributed pamphlets and flowers among the citizens. He also took action against underage-drivers and the vehicles with bogus number plates on The Mall.
