A division bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) here on Tuesday reserved judgement in the post arrest bail application on medical grounds, of a Capital Development Authority (CDA) official, Iftikhar Haidri, who was booked by NAB authorities for allegedly receiving four million bribe from a Mall owner of Islamabad.

IHC bench comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani reserved the judgment.

Previously in March this year an IHC division bench had dismissed Haidri’s bail application and later he filed fresh application on medical grounds.

Haidri’s counsel told the court that his client is seriously ill inside jail and doctors have advised him to undergo a surgery. Counsel requested the court to grant post arrest bail to his client on medical grounds. He further argued that this is a case of four million rupees that does not come under NAB’s jurisdiction. NAB can only investigate in matters worth more than 100 million rupees.

A NAB prosecutor counter argued that in Haidri’s medical report, it is nowhere mentioned that he is suffering from a fatal disease. The accused is provided with adequate medical facilities inside jail, NAB prosecutor also said.

Previously when Haidri’s bail application had gone dismissed in March, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor had told the IHC bench that Haidri was arrested at the spot when he was receiving the bribe money. Cash, prize bonds and some other precious items were recovered from his possession.

NAB on November 30, 2015 had raided a restaurant where allegedly the CDA deputy director Haidri was receiving bribe against some illegitimate favours that were to be extended to a Mall owner.
