Minister blasts KP exchequer looters
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzaffar Said has said the rulers in the past exploited people in politics in the name of nationalism, regionalism and ethnicity while the exchequer was plundered using this cover.
He was talking to delegation of Tehsil Bar Association Totalai from Buner district that called on him at the Civil Secretariat, said an official handout.
Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Habibur Rehman headed the delegation that apprised him of certain problems and demands of the bar.
The minister said corruption was infused in the blood of the rulers in the past. “They wanted to loot the public funds ruthlessly while people just saw it helplessly,” he added.
However, the minister said that the era of loot and plunder was over. “Even the most powerful person in the government cannot think of stealing or wasting meager resources of the hard earned money of the people as strict laws and punishments have been introduced in this regard,” pointed out the minister.
He said new law of whistle blower was being introduced wherein a citizen identifying looted money would get share in the money on its recovery.
The bar members appreciated the steps taken by the government to stamp out corruption and improving performance of departments.
