Death toll in held Kashmir rises to 51
ISLAMABAD: The death toll in the ongoing Kashmir intifada on Saturday surged to 51 with the killing of another Kashmiri youth by Indian forces in the Awantipora area of Pulwama district.
Indian police resorted to firing and teargas shelling on peaceful demonstrators who were protesting at Charsoo in the Awantipora area of the district against the civilian killings by Indian forces during the ongoing intifada.
One of the critical injured youth, Mushtaq Butt, succumbed when he was being shifted to a hospital in Srinagar, KMS reported. Dozens of youth were also injured some of them critically due to the use of excessive force by Indian troops and police on peaceful demonstrations in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Tral, Pulwama, Kulgam, Khudwani, Qaimooh, Islamabad, Kokarnag, Qazigund, Shopian, Sopore, Pattan, Baramulla and the Bandipora areas in IHK.
