Donkey meat recovered during raid in Battagram
BATTAGRAM: A raid conducted by the district administration on a makeshift camp in the Koza Banda area led to the recovery of a slaughtered donkey and arrest of one suspect on Tuesday.
According to the district administration, the raid was conducted by the Battagram assistant commissioner after receiving information from residents about suspicious activities taking place in the temporary camp.
Upon inspection, officials discovered the remains of a slaughtered donkey, allegedly intended for sale as meat.
The arrested individual, whose identity was not disclosed yet, was being interrogated by law enforcement agencies.
In a statement issued to the media, Battagram assistant commissioner confirmed the raid and arrest.
“We took immediate action after receiving reports. One person is in custody, and we will make sure all culprits are brought to justice. Food safety and public health are our top priorities,” he assured.
The discovery shocked and angered the people of Battagram. “This is shameful and disgusting,” said Hussain Sherazi, a shopkeeper.
“Had this meat had reached the market, it could have endangered the health of hundreds of people,” he added.
Shahab Uddin, a university student, condemned the act, calling for strict legal action. “This is not just a criminal act; it’s a violation of public trust. The authorities must ensure those responsible face full punishment under the law.”
