Repair of IJP Road needed

Islamabad: The residents of the twin cities have demanded of the civic authority to immediately initiate construction work of IJ Principal Road because this one of the busiest arteries has now become a nightmare for the motorists due to its dilapidated condition.

“We have heard number of times this year that the relevant authorities would start construction work of IJ Principal Road but no such thing has happened and now the situation has reached the extent where it is quite hard to drive on this road,” said Imran Malik, a resident of Satellite Town area.

He said the ditches and cracks on the road hamper the smooth flow of the traffic and also pose grave threats both to the motorcyclists and motorists who now often prefer to use alternative roads to avoid accidents.

Nazish Shakoor, a motorist, said the poor condition of IJ Principal Road not only halts smooth flow of traffic but also causes road accidents time and again, adding “We request the concerned authorities to immediately start work on the construction of IJ Principal road to provide relief to the motorists.

The spokesman of CDA said they have already approved Project Concept-I of IJ Principal Road and the work on this project would be initiated after passage of the rainy season.
