DUDIAL (AJK): Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said the Pakistan Army was more pro-democracy than the Turkish Army and there was a need for a new leadership in Pakistan.

Addressing a public meeting here, Imran said there was no threat to democracy from the army but the ‘kingdomship’ of Nawaz Sharif. He said Pakistan had been established to make it a model state and pointed out that without an ideology, no nation could survive.

He said whenever the prime minister goes abroad, his daughter Maryam Nawaz sits in the PM House. He said a bombproof wall had been constructed at Raiwind at a cost of Rs600 million from the public funds.

He said the PM’s son lives in London in a Rs650 crore flat and he does not pay any tax.He questioned the benefits that the people of Pakistan got due to the foreign visits of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said the voters of Nawaz constituency had distributed sweets when Pervez Musharraf removed his government in 1999.  He said after becoming the prime minister in 1993, Nawaz Sharif set up 28 factories and was sending all the money abroad. “Today half of the population of Pakistan cannot afford two-time meal and 33 per cent children are malnourished. Unemployment has increased and it is time to change the destiny of the nation.”

The PTI chief said the party had constituted the government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for the first time and would use the experience in Azad Kashmir from whatever had been learnt in the KP. He said there was less corruption in the KP, but admitted that they could not deliver as per their commitment.

Imran said those talking of breaking the begging bowl had obtained $6 billion loans in three years and the country was moving towards destruction. He said due to corruption, foreign investors were not coming to Pakistan and Pakistani youth were not getting jobs and visas.

He said had the rulers been capable of doing anything for the people, they would have already done it. He said the youth would get jobs when corrupt people would be made accountable. He said the PTI would make a system where no one would escape from accountability.
