JHANG: The Population Welfare Department arranged a seminar and a walk to observe the World Population Day here on Monday.
During a seminar held at the District Council hall, District Population Welfare Officer Fahim Usman Sial said that rapidly increasing population was a main hurdle to economic growth of the country. He stressed his field staff that population services and awareness campaigns should be extended especially in backward and low-income residential localities.
Deputy District Population Welfare Officer Salma Perveen, Social Welfare Department Coordinator for NGOs Dr Riaz Naul and others also spoke. Later, a walk was arranged from District Council Secretariat up to Nadra Chowk.
