CHITRAL: Adviser to Prime Minister Amir Muqam has said the Lowari Tunnel project would be completed by December this year at all costs.

He was talking to reporters after visiting the project site and attending a briefing by the officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA). The adviser examined the project and expressed satisfaction at the speed and quality of construction work.

Amir Muqam praised the NHA Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar for making efforts to ensure completion of the project on time.  He said the Lowari Tunnel costing Rs27 billion would bring about a new revolution in the life of Chitrali people.

Amir Muqam said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was taking a keen interest in removing the sense of deprivation of the Chitralis.“That is why the prime minister wants the Lowari Tunnel project completed at the end of this year instead of March 2017,” he added.

The adviser said that the Chakdarra-Chitral and Chitral-Gilgit roads would be constructed, which would facilitate tourists.  “The work continues on the feasibility to link Chitral via Afghanistan with Central Asia and Tajikistan,” Amir Muqam said.
