As a homemaker living in Lahore, I feel compelled to raise my voice over the ongoing and unannounced loadshedding that has made daily life increasingly difficult, especially during this scorching summer heat. It is heart-breaking to watch my children struggle with their studies and sleep due to the frequent outages and unbearable heat. Elderly parents and infants in our home suffer the most. As much as we try to keep ourselves hydrated, the constant power breakdowns make it feel like we are living through a crisis no one in a position of authority is addressing. What is worse is the lack of any clear communication or loadshedding schedule that would allow us to prepare.
We never know when the electricity will go out or for how long, particularly after a storm or rain. There is no accountability and complaints fall on deaf ears. If electricity generation is not the problem, as often stated by the officials, then why are cities like Lahore still facing such misery? Where is the investment in better infrastructure and management? I urge the authorities to address this issue with the seriousness it deserves. Our electricity bills are increasing every month and a consistent and reliable supply is the least we deserve.
