Nadeem’s blitz powers Eaton CC into KG Ramazan semis
KARACHI: Opener Nadeem Javed’s enterprising knock powered Eaton Cricket Club into the semi-finals of the Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Festival Twenty20 as they overpowered Dubai Islamic Bank by four wickets in their quarter-final here at the Karachi Gymkhana on Friday.
Nadeem, declared Man of the Match, smashed four sixes and eight fours in his fluent 74 off 51 balls which helped Eaton CC reach the target of 147 with five deliveries remaining. Zahid Mansoor’s unbeaten 31 off 21 balls ensured that there were no hiccups at the end after left-arm spinner Wasim Ali had taken three wickets.
Earlier DIB, electing to bat after winning the toss, collapsed dramatically to be restricted to 146 for nine off 20 overs after 113 runs third wicket partnership between Mohammad Afzal (67 off 50 balls) and Mohammad Waheed (45 off 34 balls).
The wickets were shared by the spin quartet of Zahid Mansoor (2-21), Ahmed Safi (2-25), Ali Asghar (2-27) and Fahad Anjum (2-36).
